As a vegan competitive bodybuilder, people often ask me how I manage to get enough protein in my diet. I follow a macro-based approach, where my coach gives me a certain amount of protein, carbs, and fats to eat each day. As far as the actual foods I use to hit those goals, I choose them myself. Whether I am in prep for a competition or in my “improvement” (or muscle-building) season, I consistently eat 120-140g of protein daily. Many people assume I do so by loading up on tofu and beans, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. Often I’m reaching my daily protein goal via protein bagels, mug cakes, and other treats – like cookie dough!
This cookie dough recipe has nearly identical nutritional stats to a protein shake, but it’s a lot more fun to eat. After all, who wouldn’t want to eat cookie dough as a post-workout snack? For this particular variety, I used the snickerdoodle variety of my favorite protein. However, you can easily switch it up by using a different flavor! Sometimes I’ll also swap out the dark chocolate chunks for other mix-ins.
The key to making this recipe successfully is choosing the right protein powder. I will always recommend LIV Body, as they are the company I have sworn by for years. If you’d like to try them out, you can use my discount code FITBYAYAKA at checkout to save 20% on your order! The other crucial ingredient for this recipe is this pudding mix. I have not tried making it with any other brand of pudding mix and thus cannot speak on how it might turn out.
